Man Charged Over Murder of Nigerian in London

The United Kingdom Metropolitan Police have formally charged Andre Wright-Walters, 37, as the prime suspect in the tragic murder of James Gbadamosi, a 67-year-old Nigerian man. The incident occurred on August 24, 2025, on Balham High Road, London, where Gbadamosi was violently assaulted, sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Police responded swiftly after receiving reports of the assault, arriving at the scene in the afternoon and transporting the injured Gbadamosi to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, Mr. Gbadamosi succumbed to his injuries and passed away on September 5.

Initial investigations led to the arrest of Wright-Walters soon after the assault. He was initially charged with assault in late August but was released on bail pending further investigation. Following the death of Gbadamosi, Wright-Walters was rearrested on suspicion of murder on September 6 and subsequently charged on September 7. He appeared before Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on September 8 and has been scheduled for a Crown Court appearance later this month.

In addition, another suspect — a 30-year-old woman — was arrested on suspicions of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, later upgraded to conspiracy to commit murder. She has been granted bail pending further inquiries.

The murder of James Gbadamosi adds to a disturbing pattern of violent attacks on Nigerians living in the United Kingdom. Recent similar cases include the brutal killing of Nkiru Chima, 60, stabbed multiple times in her Romford residence and the sentencing of Marcus Monzo to life imprisonment for the murder of Daniel Anjorin, a 14-year-old British-Nigerian schoolboy.
