Amouti Man Arrested After Girlfriend’s Sister Catches Him in the Act of Sexual Assault

AMOUTI, KWAZULU-NATAL — A South African national has been apprehended by private security officers following a harrowing sexual assault incident in Amouti, KwaZulu-Natal. The suspect was reportedly caught in the act by the victim’s own sister, who then utilized photographic evidence to ensure his swift detention.

​The incident unfolded when the victim’s sister returned to the residence and discovered a disturbing scene. According to her account to first responders, she walked into the house to find her sister completely unconscious, stripped of her clothing, and actively being sexually assaulted by the suspect—who is the romantic partner of the witness.

​Reacting quickly to document the crime and secure evidence, the sister took several photographs on her mobile phone showing the vulnerable state of the victim and the positioning of the suspect. She then immediately alerted local authorities.

​Officers from the private security and medical first-responder group, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), answered the emergency call and dispatched teams to the Amouti residence. Upon their arrival, RUSA officers were presented with the digital photographic evidence showing the semi-clothed, unresponsive woman on the bed.

​According to RUSA officials, the victim had been highly intoxicated at the time of the incident, leaving her entirely incapacitated and unaware of the severe abuse being perpetrated against her.

​Faced with the evidence and the arrival of the reaction officers, the suspect did not deny the allegations. While being processed for arrest, the man explicitly directed the detaining officers to the location of the victim’s underwear, which he had hidden beneath the bed during or prior to the assault.

​The suspect was taken into custody on-site and has been handed over to local authorities for formal charging and processing. Given the nature of the offense, the case is expected to be handled by the specialized Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit of the South African Police Service (SAPS) as investigations continue.
