Amotekun Reunites Wandering Mother, Children With Family

​Operatives of the Osun State Amotekun Corps have successfully reunited a disoriented woman and her two young children with their family, ending a tense 24-hour search. The family was initially picked up during a late-night patrol along the busy Gbongan-Ibadan highway.

​The swift intervention began on Thursday night when mobile patrol teams spotted the woman moving alongside her young children—aged approximately three years and one year—on the high-risk expressway. Recognizing the grave danger posed by late-night traffic on the major transit route, operatives intervened and transported the family to the command headquarters in Osogbo for immediate protection.

​Upon arrival, security personnel observed that the mother appeared distressed, disoriented, and incapable of providing coherent details regarding her residential address, identity, or relatives. Personnel assigned to specialized family support units noted that she struggled even to tend to basic nutritional needs for the infant strapped to her back, prompting heightened security measures to ensure their physical welfare.

​Following an intense internal intelligence push and a public appeal launched across media platforms, specialized tracking efforts yielded positive results. Investigators pieced together fragmented disclosures made by the mother, successfully tracking her lineage and residential base to the Ogberin district in Ede.

​Relatives revealed that the husband, Olawale Muideen, had been away from home when the incident occurred. Family representation—led by the husband’s younger brother, Mutiu Sodiq, alongside the eldest son, Muideen Aliyullah—subsequently arrived at the Amotekun command to verify identities and complete formal handover protocols.

​Speaking during the emotional hand-over ceremony, Sodiq expressed profound gratitude to the security network, praising the humane operational approach and medical comfort extended to the mother and children throughout their temporary stay. He noted that household members had mounted extensive, frantic private searches ever since she went missing with the kids.

​Osun Amotekun Corps Commander Adekunle Isaac Omoyele lauded both the media and observant citizens for amplifying public awareness notices issued immediately after the midnight rescue. Stressing the core institutional objective of safeguarding vulnerable citizens, Omoyele strongly advised local families to immediately notify law enforcement formations whenever relatives—particularly those battling psychological trauma or cognitive distress—go missing.
