In a decisive move to bolster human capital development and retain exceptional talents, Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved automatic employment into the state public service for seven outstanding members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The announcement was made on Tuesday during a grand reception and presentation of awards to educational achievers held at the Cocoa Conference Centre within the Governor’s Office in Akure. Alongside the job placements, Governor Aiyedatiwa doled out one million naira (₦1m) each to 66 distinguished award recipients—comprising brilliant students, high-performing teachers, and national awardees—as a tangible token of appreciation for their dedication.
Celebrating Merit and Hard Work
Addressing the gathering, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that human capital remains the cornerstone of any progressive society. He noted that the honorees had projected the “Sunshine State” in a positive global and national light through academic brilliance, innovation, and unwavering discipline.
”This event is a celebration of excellence and a reminder that the quality of a society’s human capital remained its greatest asset. The awardees have brought honour to Ondo State through their academic achievements, innovation, discipline and commitment to excellence,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
Paying special tribute to educators, the governor described teachers as the architectural foundation of society and the “silent heroes” behind every monumental success story. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving classroom infrastructure, providing modern digital learning facilities, and sustaining merit-based incentives across the state’s educational sector.
Broadening Educational Recognition
Earlier in his remarks, the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, noted that the initiative was structured to foster healthy competition, inspire academic excellence, and encourage teachers and students across all tiers of learning in the state.
The comprehensive award categories featured exceptional performers, including top scorers in the 2026 JAMB examinations, representatives at international competitions like the World Olympiad in Paris and the National Spelling Bee in the United States, as well as outstanding educators from both public and private institutions.
This latest development aligns with the state government’s broader “OUR EASE” policy framework, aimed at driving intellectual competence, technological preparedness, and robust economic growth through purposeful educational reform.
