Laide Bakare, the Nollywood actress, has been appointed as the senior special assistant to Ademola Adeleke, the Osun state governor, on entertainment, art, culture, and tourism.
The actress took to her Instagram page on Thursday night to express her gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve the state.
Bakare described the appointment as the beginning of her political career.
“Now an honorable 🙏 ya Allah I am grateful 🙏. To my New Boss governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke Imole Osun. Thank you so much for the trust and opportunity to serve. I promise to deliver my Best. So help me God 🙏 Senior Special Assistant to the governor of Osun States on entertainment, art, culture, and tourism,” she wrote, alongside photos of herself receiving the appointment letter.
“Lot of work to be done. Shall we? Cc @aadeleke_01 the entire good people of Osun state and Nigeria at large. It’s actually a new dawn for me starting my political career from here. God bless Nigeria.”
Bakare is famous for her roles in Yoruba films. She has appeared on and off screen as an actress, producer, and director.
She has featured in several award-winning movies including ‘Jejere’ which won the ‘Best Costume Design’ at the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON) in 2012.
She was nominated for the ‘Most Outstanding Actress (Indigenous Category)’ at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for her role in ‘Iranse Aje’, her 2007 film
