Professor Taoheed Adedoja has officially concluded his historic tenure as the pioneer Director-General of the Cross River State Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI) in Biase, stepping down after five years of landmark service that permanently altered the landscape of teacher education in Nigeria.
Taking the helm at the institution’s inception in 2021 under the administration of former Governor Senator Ben Ayade, Adedoja leaves behind a formidable legacy. Over half a decade, he transformed the nascent institute from a bold vision into a nationally acclaimed center of excellence dedicated to modern professional development.
Working alongside his management team, Adedoja spearheaded the intensive retraining of over 7,000 primary and secondary school educators across Cross River State. The curriculum under his watch broke conventional boundaries, focusing heavily on science, vocational education, digital literacy, and emerging global skill sets.
Demonstrating a deep commitment to inclusive education, his administration also designed tailored training frameworks specifically for youths and persons with disabilities, ensuring that blind, visually impaired, deaf, and wheelchair-using learners and instructors found representation and capability development within the system.
A crown jewel of his tenure was securing official accreditation and licensing from the American firm CERTIPORT. This milestone firmly established TCTI as one of Nigeria’s premier hubs for digital literacy and global employability certifications, attracting widespread academic and institutional partnerships.
Adedoja’s ability to anchor the institute on a global pedestal drew extensively from his rich background as an educationist, former World Bank Consultant, former Provost, former Minister of Special Duties, former Minister of Sports, former Governing Council Chairman of two federal institutions, former Oyo State SUBEB Chairman, and former Oyo State Commissioner for Education.
Reflecting on his exit, the seasoned administrator expressed profound gratitude to the Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, for sustaining the vision and offering unwavering support to the institute. He also acknowledged the foundational foresight of former Governor Ben Ayade.

He further extended his appreciation to the State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, alongside the deputy director-general, administrative staff, and the entire workforce whose dedication sustained the institute’s upward trajectory.
