Adeboye Warns RCCG Pastors Against Partisan Politics, Campaigning on Pulpits

​ABEOKUTA — The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has handed down a strict directive to ministers and pastors within the global denomination, warning them against turning church pulpits into campaign platforms or endorsing political candidates.

​Pastor Adeboye issued the stern caution during the Ministers’ Conference, a key spiritual gathering held ahead of the church’s 2026 Annual Convention. Addressing thousands of ministers, the respected cleric emphasized that the church must maintain absolute political neutrality to safeguard its spiritual mandate.

​While noting that the RCCG maintains an open-door policy for individuals across all political affiliations, Pastor Adeboye stated that visiting politicians must be received with Christian warmth and offered prayers, rather than being given a platform to canvass for votes.

​”You must not turn our pulpit into a campaign venue,” Pastor Adeboye stated. “The Redeemed Christian Church of God remains open to all political parties, and any politician who comes to us must be treated warmly and be prayed for.”

​The General Overseer further cautioned ministers against leveraging their spiritual authority to manipulate the electoral choices of their congregants. He stressed that pastoral leadership does not extend to dictating voting preferences, noting that citizens should exercise their franchise based on individual civic conviction.

​”If they come, we welcome them, but don’t turn our pulpit into a campaign venue. It is not your duty as a pastor to tell your congregation who to vote for. Our own is that they should vote according to their own persuasion,” he added.

​Concluding his address, Pastor Adeboye reminded the clergy that absolute power belongs to God, urging them to stay dedicated to soul-winning and their core spiritual assignments rather than being entangled in partisan politics.
