The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended 54-year-old primary school teacher, Garba Suleiman, over the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old minor in the Damare community of Yola South Local Government Area.
According to the police, the swift arrest followed a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s family at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Yola South. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect allegedly lured the young girl before having unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the victim has already been moved to a medical facility for comprehensive medical examinations and care.
Reacting to the incident, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, strongly condemned all forms of gender-based violence (GBV). He has ordered the immediate transfer of the case file to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola for a discreet and thorough investigation aimed at ensuring speedy prosecution.
