A three-storey commercial building in the busy Wuse Zone 4 district of Abuja collapsed on Monday evening, just hours after municipal authorities ordered occupants out and sealed the premises over structural safety concerns.
The incident, which took place at approximately 7:20 pm, prompted an immediate emergency response from the FCT Fire Service and the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD) following distress calls from the area. Rescue teams were swiftly deployed to secure the site and initiate search operations.

While preliminary reports from eyewitnesses at the scene indicated no immediate casualties, emergency agencies emphasized that search-and-rescue efforts remain active as responders meticulously clear the rubble to verify the safety of everyone who may have been in the vicinity.
The structure had reportedly been flagged and restricted by officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Development Control Department earlier in the day. Authorities are expected to launch a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the sudden collapse of the recently sealed property.
