The 36-year-old football player has hit the ground running in Miami, scoring 9 goals in his first 6 appearances and guiding Inter Miami to the Leagues Cup final against Nashville this weekend.
In his first formal comments since joining Inter Miami, Lionel explained that he and his family are enjoying their new life in Miami.
However, Messi said the transition has been much smoother than leaving Barcelona for PSG. “It was very easy to choose Miami, as the club and fans have made us feel so welcome from day one. The city is spectacular,” he stated.

Messi then openly criticized his forced transfer to PSG last summer. “My departure to Paris was not something I wanted. I did not want to leave Barcelona,” he confessed.
The Argentine legend reiterated that he had intended to re-sign with Barcelona, but the club’s financial troubles related to FFP regulations made it impossible. While disappointed, Messi says he is now happy with his choice to join Inter Miami: “I’m enjoying this new stage and experience in a country that I always wanted to play in. We are in the place we want to be.”
