…. Charged with abuse of corpse
A 61-year-old man from the US was arrested last week on Friday for allegedly not reporting the death of a family member at his home. The man from Alabama had allegedly been living with the corpse for days before the authorities found out about the body.
Deputies at the Walker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person found dead on June 9 in a small town called Sipsey near Birmingham, according to a Facebook post by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
The man identified as Leandrew Smith who was living in the same house in which the body was found, was charged with Abuse of Corpse and was taken to the county jail where he remains on a $10,000 cash-only bond, as per the post.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office said that the man had been living inside the home without reporting the death of the relative who had been dead for days.
