Modric Backs Ronaldo

Modric Urges Portugal to Grant Ronaldo Fitting Send-Off

Croatia captain Luka Modric has thrown his support behind Cristiano Ronaldo, calling on Portuguese football authorities to ensure the iconic forward receives a proper and dignified international farewell.

Modric, speaking via social media updates highlighted by Fabrizio Romano, described his former Real Madrid teammate as the greatest player in Portugal’s history. The veteran midfielder expressed dismay over recent tensions surrounding Ronaldo’s international future and his relationship with the national setup.

”Cristiano is the greatest player in the history of Portugal, and he deserves another farewell and another ending with the national team,” Modric stated. “It’s sad to see this happening to Cristiano in his own country.”

Uncertainty has clouded Ronaldo’s status following high-profile disagreements with management and a subsequent departure from the national team camp. Despite the turbulence, Modric remains optimistic that both parties will reconcile differences to honor the veteran’s legendary two-decade legacy.

”Still, I think they will find a solution, because Cris deserves, whether he retires or decides not to continue with the national team, to have a great farewell that reflects what he deserves,” Modric added. “I don’t know exactly what happened, but I hope the situation gets resolved.”
