The Federal Government has announced the completion of 10 modern radiodiagnostic centres and three specialized cancer treatment facilities across the country.
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, made this known in Bauchi during the official commissioning of a newly built radiodiagnostic centre at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH).
According to the minister, the projects—executed through a strategic partnership involving MedSafe and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA)—represent the most extensive upgrade of medical infrastructure and equipment in Nigeria’s history.
Highlighting the administration’s broader roadmap, Prof. Pate noted that the intervention aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to revitalize the healthcare sector by bridging infrastructure gaps and providing advanced medical equipment.
Following the rollout in Bauchi, the Federal Government plans to commission a similar facility in Ibadan, Oyo State, with the remaining eight diagnostic centres already completed across other geopolitical zones. Furthermore, preparations are underway to construct six major multi-specialty hospitals—one in each of the country’s six geopolitical zones—to further expand specialized care and clinical training nationwide.
