LONDON — Viewers of the BBC ballroom staple have responded enthusiastically to a presenting shake-up, showering praise on Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe following the latest results show.
As the hit dance competition settles into its newest season, fans took to social media to urge producers to cement Willis and Radebe as the primary front-of-house duo, while moving co-host Josh Widdicombe upstairs to chat more casually with the contestants. Supporters noted that the revised dynamic allowed Widdicombe to appear noticeably more relaxed and off-the-cuff away from the main stage pressure.
Meanwhile, the competitive heat turned up on the dancefloor as celebrity stylist Chris Appleton became the first contestant to exit the competition. Despite an energetic performance during Movies Week, Appleton’s Baywatch-themed cha cha failed to win over the judges, leaving him in the bottom two alongside actress Jaime Winstone.
Judges Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke unanimously voted to save Winstone and her professional partner, Carlos Gu, cutting Appleton’s tenure short and halting professional partner Amy Dowden’s anticipated comeback run. The remaining 14 couples will return to the ballroom next weekend.
