A political pressure group, Grassroots 121 Action, says it is targeting at least 200,000 votes for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Ekiti State in the 2027 presidential election.
The group said it had inaugurated 5,000 polling-unit canvassers to drive the mobilisation.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the 200,000 figure is the group’s stated target, not a verified prediction of the votes Makinde will receive.
2,445 POLLING UNITS
Convener Lanre Fajuyi said the group planned to build a grassroots structure across Ekiti’s 2,445 polling units. The canvassers are expected to undertake voter engagement and mobilisation activities.
The group is advocating support for Makinde, who is associated with the Allied Peoples Movement presidential campaign.
POLITICAL CONTEXT
The mobilisation comes ahead of the 2027 presidential election, when political parties and support groups are expected to intensify their grassroots activities.
The activities of a support group do not, by themselves, establish the level of electoral support a candidate has among voters.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the significance of the development at this stage lies in the organisation of the campaign structure and the numerical target announced by the group, while the actual electoral outcome will depend on voters and the formal electoral process.
