130 Years Behind Bars: Gang Jailed for Savage Revenge Attack on Mother and Child

​A mother and her 13-year-old daughter were forced to leap from an upstairs window in a desperate bid to escape a horrific revenge attack that left them with life-changing injuries. A gang of ten men has now been sentenced to a total of more than 130 years behind bars following the calculated petrol-bombing.

​The violent ordeal unfolded at a property on Beverley Drive in Bentilee, Stoke-on-Trent, late at night. Hours earlier, a street brawl on Kildare Street had erupted, resulting in a man sustaining a stab wound to the shoulder. Seeking bloody retribution for the stabbing, the gang tracked their target to the two-bedroom home, smashed the windows, and deliberately poured petrol inside.

​Trapped inside as the flames took hold, the mother was brutally struck on the head before being set alight. She suffered catastrophic injuries, including 65% burns, a broken pelvis, broken ribs, and a lacerated liver. Miraculously surviving a two-month medically induced coma that doctors doubted she would wake from, she has defied the odds to walk again, though she faces a lifetime of ongoing medical treatment. Her teenage daughter suffered severe burns and smoke inhalation, requiring intensive skin grafts.

​Heavy Sentences Handed Down

​Following comprehensive digital forensics and CCTV analysis by Staffordshire Police, the perpetrators were brought to justice across hearings at Leicester and Stoke-on-Trent Crown Courts:

• ​Shakil Uddin, 23, of Oldham: Sentenced to 34 years after being convicted of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

• ​Ali Abbas, 23, of Normacot: Jailed for 25 years after pleading guilty to two counts of attempted murder, arson with intent to endanger life, grievous bodily harm, and weapon possession.

• ​Haris Mahmood, 22, of Normacot: Handed 24 years and nine months after admitting two counts of attempted murder and arson with intent.

• ​Riyadh Iqbal, 23, of Normacot: Sentenced to 12 and a half years for grievous bodily harm with intent and arson.

• ​Lukman Khan, 25, of Normacot: Jailed for 12 and a half years for grievous bodily harm with intent and arson.

• ​Muhammad Sufyaan-Shah, 25: Imprisoned for 11 and a half years for grievous bodily harm with intent.

• ​Tayyeb Majeed, 24, of Longton: Sentenced to 10 and a half years for grievous bodily harm with intent.

• ​Three other men received lesser or suspended terms for connected violent disorder and weapon offences during earlier court appearances.

​The presiding judge highlighted the sheer callousness of the group, who chose to drag innocent victims into a brutal turf feud. Under their sentences, the primary offenders will serve at least two-thirds behind bars before being considered for release on licence.
