ValidViewNetwork reports that the Anambra State Government has continued its public dispute with former governor Peter Obi over the financial record he left behind after leaving office.
The disagreement centres on debt, savings, outstanding obligations and the broader question of how a government should measure its performance.
Obi has rejected claims that his administration left substantial unpaid obligations, saying he settled salaries, pensions, gratuities and contractor obligations before leaving office and left funds available for ecological intervention.
The Anambra government has disputed aspects of that account and previously released what it described as records relating to Obi’s administration, including claims about outstanding liabilities and the treatment of ecological funds.
The latest response shifts the argument towards the meaning of good governance.
The state’s position is that government performance cannot be reduced to the amount of money left in an account.
Public services, infrastructure, liabilities, welfare and the sustainability of government finances also form part of the assessment.
The disagreement remains politically significant as Obi prepares for another presidential contest in 2027 and his record in Anambra continues to feature prominently in arguments about his suitability for national leadership. ValidViewNetwork reports.
