Super Intelligence: Trump rejects AI regulation calls, unveils new terminology at UN

NEW YORK — US President Donald Trump used his address to the 81st UN General Assembly to announce a curious linguistic shift.

Henceforth, he says, official American documents will refer to artificial intelligence not as “AI” but as “super intelligence,” arguing that the word “artificial” makes the technology sound fake.

The US president insists that Washington would encourage the technology’s growth rather than rein it in.

Trump took aim at what he characterised as alarmist voices warning that AI could pose existential risks, comparing such warnings to past concerns over climate change. He argued that the country that leads in advanced AI would hold a decisive global advantage, positioning the US as determined to stay ahead of China in the race.

A term already claimed by researchers
