The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old school proprietor over the alleged defilement of a nine-year-old pupil.
The suspect was among 32 people arrested by the command for various offences during recent operations across the state.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, disclosed the development on Friday, September 18, 2026, while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Jos.
According to the police, the suspect is being investigated alongside a 35-year-old man who was also arrested over the alleged defilement of an 11-year-old minor.
Another 22-year-old suspect was arrested in Bokkos Local Government Area over an alleged rape case.
The police said the victims were taken to hospital for medical examination as investigations continue. The command added that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the arrests form part of a wider operation in which the Plateau Police Command said it arrested 32 suspects and recovered 10 rifles and 54 rounds of live ammunition.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that can help security agencies respond to crimes and protect vulnerable members of the community.
The allegation against the school proprietor remains a matter for investigation and, if charged, judicial determination.
