15-Year-Old Maid Rescued After Months Locked in Toilet

​PORT HARCOURT — Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have rescued a 15-year-old girl, Amarachi, who was allegedly locked inside a toilet for months by her employers in the Abuloma area of the state.

​The victim, an indigene of Ebonyi State who lived with the couple—identified as Eze Simeon and his wife—as a domestic help, endured months of systematic deprivation, severe neglect, and confinement. According to neighborhood reports, she was punished over an unspecified minor offense and subsequently banished to the restroom, where she was allegedly fed only once daily with leftover scraps.

​The harrowing ordeal came to an end when Amarachi mustered the strength to raise an alarm while her employers were away from the premises. Alert neighbors heard her desperate cries filtering from the locked apartment and promptly notified the police division in Abuloma.

​Acting on the tip-off, law enforcement officers swiftly moved to the scene, forced open the enclosure, and safely extracted the victim from the squalor.

​Confirming the development, the Command’s Spokesperson, Agabe Blessing, stated that preliminary investigations into the grim incident are currently underway. She revealed that the couple has been taken into police custody to answer for the alleged abuse, while arrangements are being finalized for members of the victim’s family—who have arrived in Rivers State—to take her back into their care.
