Nigerian dancer Poco Lee has reportedly been released in the United Kingdom after a complainant allegedly dropped a case against him.
The claim was made by Nigerian skit maker Peller, who said the complainant’s decision led to Poco Lee’s release.
However, the development should not be confused with an acquittal unless confirmed by the court.
ValidViewNetwork reports that Poco Lee had previously faced charges listed by Snaresbrook Crown Court, including attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.
The court proceedings were subject to reporting restrictions designed to protect the identity of the complainant.
Peller’s statement therefore represents a claim about the latest development, rather than independent confirmation that the allegations have been dismissed or that Poco Lee has been cleared of wrongdoing.
ValidViewNetwork reports that further clarification from the court will be important in establishing the exact legal status of the case.
