On a dramatic and emotional driven final day of the 2022/2023 season, Leicester City were relegated from the Premier League despite a 2-1 win over West Ham United as Everton prolonged their 69-year stay in the English top flight by beating Bournemouth 1-0 on Sunday.

Sam Allaydace could not keep Leeds United in the Premier League as they also join Leicester and Southampton back to the Championship after three seasons in the top flight. Leeds lost 4-1 to Tottenham with Harry Kane hitting his 30th league goal of the season with a brace in the encounter.

At the King Power, Leicester thought they had beaten relegation when Super Eagles Kelechi Iheanacho set up Harvey Barnes for the first goal on 34 minutes and Wout Faes made it 2-0 on 62 minutes.

The foxes temporarily went above Everton into 17th position pushing the Toffes into relegation.

However Everton had Abdoulaye Doucoure to thank as the French midfielder became the hero when he smashed home from the edge of the box on 57 minutes to spark jubilant celebrations around Goodison Park. Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi was in action for 90 minutes in the game as Everton were resolute in defence.

In other results, Taiwo Awoniyi scored his 10th goal in the Premier League in Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw at Palace, Brentford pipped Manchester City 1-0, Southampton and Liverpool played 4-4 draw and Newcastle held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw Stamford Bridge.

Also, Arsenal thrashed Wolverhampton Wanderers 5-0, Manchester United came from behind to beat Fulham 2-1 and Aston Villa beat Brighton 2-1.
