A Decisive Operation in the North-West
ValidViewNetwork gathered that troops of the COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7, Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dislodged terrorist elements and recovered weapons, ammunition and motorcycles during a clearance operation in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, September 6, 2026, by the spokesman of Sector 2, 8 Division, Lt Col Olaniyi Osoba, the troops advanced through identified terrorist threat enclaves, including Manu, Alkasim and Kandam villages, as well as the Magarya Forest axis.
The Engagement
Upon making contact with the terrorists within the Magarya Forest, troops engaged the elements with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee into the deep forest.
A follow-up search of the area led to the recovery of a PKT machine gun, AK-47 rifles and a large quantity of 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition.
The troops also recovered several motorcycles and assorted logistical items believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
Impact on Terrorist Operations
The military said the recovery of the weapons and mobility assets would further degrade the terrorists’ operational capability in the area.
It added that the troops had maintained a strong operational posture and continued to dominate the general area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and safeguard surrounding communities.
Military authorities also warned terrorists and their collaborators still operating in the area to abandon their activities, stressing that security forces would continue pursuing the groups and dismantling their operational networks.
The latest operation forms part of intensified military efforts across the North-West aimed at denying armed groups access to hideouts and limiting their ability to attack communities or abduct residents.
A Lesson for Nigerian Youths
This operation is a reminder that the fight against terrorism is not over.
For young Nigerians, the lesson is clear: security is a shared responsibility. The same leaders who ignore insecurity will never allow their own families to be victims of terrorism.
Support our troops. Demand better security. And never forget that peace is a collective effort.
