TAFTA and Vision Spring Stage Third ‘Àjọṣe’ Showcase to Spotlight Women’s Health

​The Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA), in collaboration with Vision Spring Initiatives, recently staged the third showcase of Àjọṣe, an innovative theatrical production and radio drama series centered on women’s health, justice, healing, and social responsibility.

​Hosted at the Multipurpose Hall of the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, the event brought together students, creatives, and community members for an immersive artistic experience that merged entertainment with vital social discourse. The production utilized culturally grounded storytelling and emotionally resonant performances to unpack complex topics such as compassion, wellbeing, and women’s reproductive health, making them accessible and relatable to younger audiences.

​Speaking on the initiative, TAFTA Founder Bolanle Austen-Peters noted that the overwhelmingly positive reception across successive showcases highlights the power of storytelling in facilitating difficult conversations. She emphasized that theater provides a unique platform to approach sensitive issues with empathy while inspiring learning, reflection, and behavioral change.

​Echoing these sentiments, TAFTA Academy Lead JO Umoibom stated that maintaining a youth-centered approach has been crucial in ensuring the themes resonate with young demographics. He added that the strong turnout and engagement at the third showcase prove that young people are eager to engage with important societal issues when presented through relatable narratives.

​Following the success of the first three stagings, the initiative now prepares for its grand finale, which will officially conclude the series of performances aimed at driving community dialogue and social change.
