The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) has brought its grassroots sensitisation drive to the Ajah axis of Eti-Osa Local Government Area, charging residents to embrace the registration exercise to enhance the state government’s infrastructural and social planning.
Speaking during a high-profile town hall meeting held at the palace of the Oba of Ajah Ile and Okun Ajah on Thursday, LASRRA General Manager Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abisola emphasized that accurate demographic data remains the bedrock of evidence-based governance. She noted that the agency has scaled up its database past the seven million mark and is decentralizing its operations to bring registration points directly into local communities, markets, primary and secondary schools, and vaccination clinics.
Adebiyi-Abisola stressed that enrollment begins right from birth, with upgraded technological infrastructure now permitting the seamless capture of newborns at health and immunization centres without discomfort. Addressing public skepticism, she issued a stern warning against extortion, declaring a zero-tolerance policy for rogue agents demanding unauthorized fees. She reiterated that the entire registration process is completely free and urged citizens to report infractions.
Weighing in on the initiative, the monarch, His Royal Majesty Oba Kolawole Abdul-Lateef Lawal-Olumegbon, lauded the agency’s community outreach. He noted that reliable local statistics directly correlate with infrastructural upgrades witnessed across the axis and implored his subjects to mobilize their households for the exercise.
The parley also spotlighted key utility perks linked to the database, including eligibility for the ILERA EKO health insurance scheme, the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, and complimentary slots for local trade tests aimed at artisans. Agency officials reminded participants that valid documentation—such as the National Identification Number (NIN), international passports, driver’s licenses, or voter cards—is required for registration and data updates.
