BIRNIN KEBBI — The Kebbi State Police Command has taken a 29-year-old man into custody following a bizarre ritual involving the alleged desecration of the Holy Qur’an.
Abubakar Musa was apprehended in the Zuru Local Government Area after authorities uncovered a plot intended to exert supernatural control over a domestic relationship. According to state police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman, the suspect faces multiple preliminary charges, including criminal conspiracy, the abuse of religious texts, the use of spells and hypnosis, and inciting public disturbance.
Investigators revealed that the operation took place on August 9, 2026. Musa allegedly collaborated with two co-conspiritors, identified as Rabi’u Tela and Hamza Zango, to execute the ritual. The trio reportedly dug a pit and buried a copy of the Holy Qur’an alongside a collection of disturbing items.

Law enforcement officials reported recovering human semen, white and red kolanuts, personal underwear, and deceased animals from the burial site. Police stated that the objective of the ritual was to manipulate Rabi’u Tela’s wife, Zarau Hassan, compelling her through alleged fetish practices to become more submissive to her husband.
The case has drawn significant local attention as community members grapple with the unusual nature of the domestic dispute resolution attempt. The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face formal prosecution upon the conclusion of the preliminary inquiry.
