UMUAHIA — A peaceful community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State has been thrown into profound shock and mourning following the gruesome murder of a newly married man, Innocent Nwaorji, allegedly by his wife, Serah.
The tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, August 7, in the sleepy village of Umuokereke Ngwa. According to local sources, the couple, who only tied the knot in December, appeared to share a calm home devoid of any public discord or known marital friction.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim was fast asleep when his wife reportedly armed herself with a kitchen knife and launched a vicious, unprovoked attack, stabbing him repeatedly. The severity of the wounds proved fatal before any assistance could reach him.
Community leaders, jolted by the sudden commotion and subsequent gruesome discovery, immediately alerted the local police division. Operatives swiftly arrived at the scene, secured the premises, evacuated the lifeless body to a nearby mortuary for autopsy, and took the grieving yet prime suspect into custody.
Mourners have gathered around the grieving family compound in Umunwaoji, Umuonyeukwu Kindred, as residents struggle to comprehend what drove the recent bride to commit such a heinous act.
When contacted, authorities at the Abia State Police Command confirmed the arrest, assuring residents that a comprehensive investigation is underway to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the tragedy.
