​Ontario has officially launched the application phase for its newly structured Workforce Priority Stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), marking a major overhaul of the province’s immigration framework.

​The e-Filing portal opened for Expression of Interest (EOI) submissions, inviting skilled global talent and essential professionals to secure a permanent future in Canada’s economic engine.

​The maiden initiative replaces previous nomination channels following a structural reset of provincial immigration routes. Designed to be employer-driven and highly responsive to labor market demands, the intake accommodates candidates across three distinct tracks: higher-skilled workers, lower-skilled workers, and a dedicated exemption pathway for independent, self-employed physicians licensed to practice and bill under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

​Under the newly implemented points-based framework, prospective applicants must link their active EOI profiles to verified job offers submitted beforehand through the OINP Employer Portal. Profiles will remain active in the selection pool for up to 12 months before requiring renewal.

​To maintain momentum during periodic invitation draws, successful candidates face tight operational windows:

• ​Nominee Response: Invited applicants are given a strict 17-calendar-day window to submit a full application.
• ​Employer Compliance: Sponsoring businesses must apply for formal position approval within 14 days of an invitation being issued.

​Successful nominees will receive provincial support letters facilitating bridging work permits while federal permanent residence applications undergo processing. Furthermore, high-skilled candidates and medical practitioners can leverage Enhanced Provincial Nominee alignments with federal Express Entry channels for expedited processing.
