ENUGU — The family of Onyeabo Donald Chimezie, a final-year Law student at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC), is crying out for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his tragic death. The 22-year-old student passed away on June 29, 2026, after spending weeks battling severe injuries sustained from a fall off an unfinished building.
The incident occurred on April 13, 2026, near the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC). According to reports, Donald plunged from the uncompleted structure and landed heavily on exposed iron rods, suffering extensive trauma.
While initial assumptions pointed toward a tragic accident, the victim’s older sister, Cynthia Onyeabo, has come forward with chilling allegations that her brother may have been pushed. Breaking her silence in a emotional public statement on August 4, Cynthia revealed that new insights have shattered her initial belief that the fall was accidental.
”We initially thought it was a terrible accident, but emerging details give us reason to believe someone pushed or threw him from that building,” Cynthia stated, describing her late brother as a quiet, reserved individual who kept to himself.
