Woman Apprehended for Alleged Murder of Co-Wife’s Child

​ALIADE, BENUE STATE — The serene community of Ankyoor, located in the Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, was plunged into mourning on Friday following the harrowing death of a young girl, allegedly at the hands of her father’s other wife.

​The suspect, identified as Erdoo Nancy, was taken into custody by local residents after the tragic incident occurred at a residence situated along the Makurdi Road, directly opposite YUA Guest House. Preliminary reports suggest that the victim was attacked while her mother was briefly away from the home, leaving the child vulnerable.

​The swift intervention of local onlookers proved decisive, as they managed to intercept the suspect before she could flee the scene. Following the intervention, she was immediately surrendered to officers from the Nigeria Police Force, Aliade Division, who have since commenced a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

​At this stage, the motive for the alleged assault remains shrouded in mystery, and authorities have yet to release the official identity or the exact age of the deceased child.

​The Benue State Police Command has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the tragedy. Attempts to reach the command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, for official confirmation and further details remained unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
