Ogun Secures $250m Mega Dairy Farm Investment

​ABEOKUTA – Ogun State’s drive for economic industrialization has received a massive boost with a fresh $250 million investment aimed at transforming the state into a major hub for dairy production in West Africa.

​Pure Dairy Herds, a specialized cattle and milk production company, has finalized plans to establish one of Nigeria’s largest fully integrated dairy farms in the Ogun West Senatorial District.

​The ambitious project is expected to drastically cut Nigeria’s dependence on imported dairy products, stimulate the local economy, and generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

​A Strategic Partnership for Agricultural Growth

​Speaking with journalists on Tuesday following a high-level strategic meeting with Governor Dapo Abiodun at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the representative for Pure Dairy Herds, Mr. Farouk Gumel, revealed that land acquisition for the mega-farm has already been concluded.

​Gumel noted that the company is collaborating with top-tier international dairy experts to deploy world-class infrastructure and advanced agricultural technologies. The facility will focus on high-yield cattle breeding and industrialized milk processing to fortify the nation’s agricultural value chain.

​According to Gumel, the choice of Ogun State—and Ogun West in particular—was a deliberate decision driven by the state government’s aggressive infrastructure development and investor-friendly policies.

​“Ogun is the best,” Gumel stated. “We already have a few operations in Ogun State, and this project is a testament to how well we have been received and treated. We are fortunate to have Ogun State as our host, and we are particularly excited about moving into Ogun West, which holds great promise, especially with the critical infrastructure projects taking place in the area.”

​Groundbreaking in Weeks

​The $250 million capital outlay represents only the initial phase of the development. Pure Dairy Herds intends to scale up its financial commitment as operations expand.

​Preparations are already at an advanced stage for an official groundbreaking ceremony, which officials confirm will take place within the next two to three weeks.

​The host communities in Ogun West have reportedly welcomed the initiative with open arms, a factor that corporate executives say has significantly smoothed the pre-development phase.
