​Relief for Defrauded Job Seekers as Ondo Begins SUBEB Verification Screening

​AKURE – The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) has officially commenced a comprehensive verification and interview exercise for teaching applicants who fell victim to the racketeering and irregularities that marred the state’s last primary school teachers’ recruitment drive.

​This decisive move follows an intervention by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who used his 2026 Workers’ Day address to order the regularization and absorption of all genuinely qualified applicants whose aspirations were derailed by a job-buying syndicate.

​The scandal, which broke out late last year, led to the suspension of two directors and a deputy director within SUBEB after it was uncovered that desperate job seekers had been defrauded of sums ranging from ₦200,000 to ₦750,000 in exchange for counterfeit appointment and posting letters.

​District-by-District Screening Schedule

​To ensure a seamless exercise, the newly inaugurated Verification Committee, chaired by Comrade Bola Taiwo, has decentralized the process across the state’s three senatorial districts. All sessions are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. prompt at designated “Caring Heart Mega Primary Schools” within the regions:

• ​Ondo Central Senatorial District: Tuesday, June 30 – Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at St. James’ Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Irowo, Akure.
• ​Ondo South Senatorial District: Monday, July 6 – Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at St. Mark Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Ore.
• ​Ondo North Senatorial District: Wednesday, July 8 – Thursday, July 9, 2026, at St. Gregory Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Ikare-Akoko.

​Compulsory Requirements for Affected Applicants

​The Board has stressed that physical appearance is compulsory for all affected candidates. Applicants must present both the original copies and photocopies of the following credentials to the committee:

• ​Birth Certificate or official Declaration of Age

• ​Printed copy of the original Recruitment Application Form

• ​The issued Appointment Letter

• ​The corresponding Posting Letter to a school

​Commitment to Transparency

​Speaking on behalf of the Board, Banjo Egunjobi assured the public that the screening will be executed in a transparent, fair, and strictly merit-driven manner to restore credibility to the state’s education sector.

​”Only those whose credentials and recruitment records are successfully authenticated will be recommended for absorption into the State’s public primary school teaching service,” Egunjobi warned, adding that failure to attend or produce the required files will result in immediate disqualification.
