ABEOKUTA – In a decisive bid to restore absolute normalcy and secure one of the nation’s most vital transit corridors, the Ogun State Police Command has flooded the J3 axis of the Sagamu–Benin Expressway with a massive deployment of tactical operatives.
The security blitz comes in the wake of a distressing security breach reported along the highway on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Responding to the threat with swift executive action, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, ordered an immediate, high-intensity containment operation. The command has since injected four full units of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), specialized operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and an array of elite tactical teams into the affected corridor.
Intensive Manhunt Underway
A rigorous bush-combing exercise is currently tearing through the dense terrain surrounding the J3 axis. According to official police sources, the heavily armed operatives are making “significant operational progress” as they track down the fleeing suspects who orchestrated Thursday’s disruption.
The primary objective of the ongoing deployment is two-fold: to relentlessly hunt down the perpetrators and to permanently dominate the area, ensuring that commuters, commercial drivers, and local inhabitants can travel and live without fear of ambush.
”No Cause for Alarm”
In an official statement released from the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Abaseyi, urged members of the public to discard panic and maintain their daily routines.
”The Command wishes to state that there is no cause for alarm,” DSP Abaseyi reassured. “All necessary security measures have been aggressively put in place to ensure public safety, protect lives, and secure property along the entire stretch of the expressway.”
With the weekend travel rush underway, the police command has reiterated its commitment to 24/7 surveillance, guaranteeing that the Sagamu–Benin Expressway remains hostile territory for criminal elements but entirely safe for law-abiding citizens.
