Police Arrest Three Over Murder of Retired OGTV Broadcaster

​A shocking double homicide has rocked Ogun State following the brutal murder of a retired broadcaster and her security detail, sparking a swift and intensive investigation by local law enforcement. ​ValidViewNetwork reports that the Ogun State Police Command has successfully apprehended three suspects, including a former security guard, in connection with the horrific killings of former Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster Olakitan Oyesiku and her guard, Pelumi Adetayo. The breakthrough in the case came after detectives deployed advanced intelligence-gathering and forensic tools to track down the alleged perpetrators, ValidViewNetwork reports.

​The state Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, that the victims were discovered after a report was received at the Owode-Egba Police Station on June 21 regarding suspicious circumstances at the residence. ValidViewNetwork reports that responding detectives found Adetayo’s lifeless body locked inside the security house, while Oyesiku was discovered lying in a pool of blood inside the living room of the main building. A handwritten note left behind at the crime scene by the perpetrators ultimately provided forensic investigators with vital clues that cracked the case wide open, ValidViewNetwork reports.

​According to law enforcement authorities, the principal suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, was arrested at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, and subsequently confessed to recruiting 27-year-old security guard Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola and 36-year-old bricklayer Sobu Obafunsho. Police officials stated that the suspects initially overpowered Adetayo to gain access to the premises on June 20, later fleeing the scene in Oyesiku’s Lexus RX 330, which was later recovered with its registration plates hidden beneath a seat. “During interrogation, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip made a confessional statement, admitting his involvement in the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku,” Ojajuni stated, adding that the suspect claimed the attack was planned over past grievances from his time working for the deceased and “was intended to ‘teach her a lesson.’” While a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, and a black pen have been recovered as evidence, the Ogun State Police Command emphasized that “investigation is ongoing to consolidate all available evidence and ensure diligent prosecution of all suspects connected with the crime.”
