Woman Steals Two Babies for Fake Church Dedication

ASABA — In a bizarre and unsettling twist of desperation, the Delta State Police Command has arrested a woman for allegedly orchestrating the abduction of two separate infants, whom she intended to parade as her own during an upcoming church dedication service.

The suspect, identified simply as Joy, reportedly hatched the audacious plot after suffering the tragic loss of her own newborn twins. Rather than grieving, police say she chose to manufacture a miraculous recovery by preying on vulnerable teenage mothers.

A Calculated Deception

According to law enforcement officials, Joy deliberately targeted two young, unsuspecting mothers—aged 14 and 18—exploiting their youth and socioeconomic vulnerabilities. Using false pretenses and calculated manipulation, she managed to separate both babies from their respective mothers.

Investigators revealed that Joy’s ultimate objective was to present the two stolen infants at an upcoming church ceremony. The event, which she had told her community was a thanksgiving dedication for her late twins, was instead meant to solidify a elaborate lie that the children were alive and well.

The Arrest and Recovery

The scheme unraveled quickly after distraught family members raised the alarm, prompting a swift intervention by the Delta State Police Command. Following a targeted investigation, operatives tracked down the suspect and recovered both infants unharmed.

Confirming the arrest, police authorities stated that Joy has since confessed to the crimes during interrogation.

”The babies have been successfully recovered and reunited with their traumatized mothers,” a police spokesperson confirmed. “The suspect remains in custody, and formal charges will be filed in court immediately upon the conclusion of our investigations.”

Outrage Sparks Calls for Action

The shocking nature of the crime has sent shockwaves through Delta State, igniting widespread public outrage and placing a spotlight on the safety of young parents. Child rights activists and civil society organizations have fiercely condemned the act, noting that the incident exposes deep systemic failures in community safety nets.

”This heartbreaking incident highlights just how exposed our young and teenage mothers are to predators,” said a local child welfare advocate. “We need more than just an arrest; we need structural protection.”

In the wake of the scandal, state authorities and community leaders have pledged to collaborate on new initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable young families. Activists are also leveraging the public outcry to lobby for legislative reforms and localized surveillance systems to ensure that such an audacious breach of security never happens again.
