LAGOS – Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a massive stash of illicit narcotics valued at over ₦5.8 billion during a high-stakes weekend raid on a mansion in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The operation, which targeted a luxury residence used as a “stash house” for a transnational syndicate, has prompted an urgent public health alert from the agency. Authorities revealed that the seized drugs were meticulously packaged in vibrant, “designer” sachets—a marketing tactic specifically designed to appeal to teenagers and young adults.
The Lekki Raid
In a statement released on Sunday, May 10, 2026, NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, confirmed that the recovery was the result of sustained intelligence gathering. The mansion, located in an upscale Lekki neighborhood, served as a primary distribution hub for assorted narcotics.

”These colorful packages are not sweets or snacks; they are death in a sachet,” Babafemi warned, sharing images of the seized items on social media. “We have successfully prevented ₦5.8 billion worth of illicit substances from reaching our streets and homes.”
A New Threat to Youth
The agency expressed deep concern over the evolution of drug packaging. The recovered narcotics were branded with trendy logos and bright colors, effectively disguising them as harmless consumer goods.
The NDLEA noted that this trend aims to bypass parental domestic surveillance and lure minors into substance abuse by making the products appear “cool” or “premium.”

Advisory to Parents
Following the bust, the NDLEA has urged parents and guardians to maintain heightened vigilance. The agency advised families to:
- Monitor Wastebins: Be on the lookout for unfamiliar, colorful sachet wrappers in household trash.
- Inspect Packages: Pay attention to “designer” branded small foil packs that do not have clear nutritional or manufacturing labels.
- Seek Early Intervention: If such items are discovered in a child’s possession or vicinity, parents are encouraged to contact the NDLEA for professional counseling and help immediately.
This latest breakthrough comes on the heels of the agency’s intensified War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign. Over the past year, the NDLEA has ramped up its offensive against high-profile traffickers, leading to several multi-billion naira seizures across Lagos and other major Nigerian hubs.

As of press time, investigations are ongoing to track down the owners of the Lekki mansion and other members of the criminal network linked to the ₦5.8 billion haul.
