QUA’AN PAN — Joint security forces operating in the Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State have scored a significant victory in the ongoing fight against banditry and kidnapping. The operatives successfully apprehended two suspected kidnappers and recovered an N8 million ransom payment that had been extracted from the family of a deceased victim.
The suspects, identified as Waltu Watter and Sale Mamma, were taken into custody following a coordinated intelligence-led operation. Authorities report that the duo was involved in the brutal abduction of a man, Alhaji Saidu Mamma, and his daughter. Tragically, the operation resulted in the death of Alhaji Mamma, while his daughter was initially held captive by the perpetrators.

The Executive Chairman of the Qua’an Pan Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Christopher Audu Manship, confirmed the development in a statement issued by his media aide, Danaan Cletus Sylvanus. Expressing the local administration’s firm stance against criminal elements, the Chairman directed that the recovered N8 million be immediately returned to the grieving family.
In a parallel success, the same security team also rescued another abducted victim, Mrs. Gambo Bello, from a forest hideout in the area. Mrs. Bello, who was reportedly kidnapped in Padama, Lafia East Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, had been held within the Pandam Game Reserve prior to her rescue and subsequent reunion with her family.

Chairman Manship praised the bravery of the security agencies and attributed the success to both collaborative enforcement efforts and divine intervention. This incident marks the third notable recovery of ransom and arrest of kidnappers in the Qua’an Pan area recently, underscoring the effectiveness of the local government’s intensified security measures.
