ABUJA — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Friday, April 17, will be able to access their results before midnight today, Saturday, April 18.
This announcement follows the successful release of the first batch of results on Friday, which saw 632,788 candidates who wrote the exam on the opening day (Thursday) receive their scores. The Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the timeline via his official X handle, urging candidates to remain expectant as the processing of the second day’s results reaches its final stage.
Massive Turnout and Tech Vigilance
This year’s examination cycle is notably one of the largest in the Board’s history, with a staggering 2,243,816 candidates registered nationwide. Lagos State led the registration surge with over 321,000 candidates, followed by Kaduna and the Federal Capital Territory.
While the examination has proceeded with minimal technical hitches across most Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, JAMB has intensified its crackdown on examination malpractice. The Board recently disclosed that it has already apprehended two candidates and a parent for attempting to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other electronic means to falsify results.
”The Board remains committed to a credible process,” Benjamin stated. “We warn candidates against seeking ‘score upgrades’ from fraudulent syndicates. Our systems are sophisticated enough to detect and flag any manipulation.”
How to Check Your Result
JAMB has streamlined the result-checking process to reduce the burden on its web portal. Candidates are advised to use the following methods:
- SMS Method: Send “UTMERESULT” (one word) to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during registration. The score will be delivered directly via text message.
- Online Portal: Candidates can also log in to the official JAMB e-Facility portal with their email and password to view a more detailed breakdown.
The Board reminded candidates that only “result viewing” is currently enabled. The printing of official result slips, which requires a fee of ₦1,500, will be activated at a later date.
