GUILDFORD, UK – It was a moment of academic triumph for the First Family as Olayinka Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, officially marked the completion of his postgraduate studies at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom.
The younger Tinubu was conferred with a Master of Science (MSc) in International Financial Management during a colorful graduation ceremony held on Wednesday at the university’s main campus.
A Rare Public Milestone
While his older brother, Seyi Tinubu, is a familiar face in Nigeria’s political and business circles, Olayinka has gained a reputation for maintaining an intensely private lifestyle. His academic achievement in the UK marks a rare moment of public visibility for the president’s son, who has largely avoided the media spotlight since his father assumed office in May 2023.
One of Olayinka’s few previous public appearances was highly symbolic, occurring when he accompanied President Tinubu to the Presidential Villa for the formal handover of transition documents from former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Sibling Solidarity
The ceremony was not without its “viral” moments. A video circulating on social media platforms, including Snapchat and X (formerly Twitter), captured a candid moment of sibling bonding between the two brothers.

In the footage, Seyi Tinubu is seen affectionately assisting Olayinka with his graduation hood and gown, ensuring his younger brother was “picture-perfect” before joining the procession. The video has since garnered significant traction, with well-wishers congratulating the family on the academic milestone.
Academic Focus
The choice of International Financial Management as a field of study aligns with the global nature of modern economics—a discipline that is particularly relevant given the current administration’s focus on fiscal reforms and international investment.
The University of Surrey, located in Guildford, is consistently ranked as one of the top institutions in the UK for management and finance studies, making Olayinka’s achievement a significant addition to the family’s academic credentials.

As of press time, the Presidency has not released an official statement, though family associates have taken to various digital platforms to celebrate the latest “Master” in the Tinubu household.
