Apologise to Iran for siding with Israel, Oluwo tells Trump

Oluwo of Iwo in Osun State, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has urged the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, to tender an apology to Iran for siding with the State of Israel in the ongoing war involving the two countries.

The royal father, in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Wednesday, described the current war as ‘needless’, saying the killing of 86-year old supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, remains a sin against humanity.

“I doubt if the United States of America’s president, Donald Trump, has a history of who they have killed. I only pray it ends well. Only cowardly countries can surrender themselves to such an approach deployed by the US president, Donald Trump.

“I love America so much but its President should rethink his leadership style. Bombing innocent students in their attacks on Iran was a pure demonstration of cowardice. Iran has proved to America that not all countries are coward like Venezuela. Iran has spoken in words and actions,” Oluwo said.

Oba Akanbi said the killing of the leader of a sovereign nation will further jeopardise international peace, noting that “I suppose the US and Israel have swallowed a pestle. You can still be a world power in peace. What war can do, peace can achieve more”

He recalled that for years, Iran was sanctioned and yet survived, insisting that the current shoving of Iran by the US “is of no quantifiable essence.”

The statement read partly, “The coordinated bombing of Iran and reprisal attack by the former is already having a huge negative impact on the world economy. Many passengers are left stranded, and airports are closed in the affected region.

“Iranians stood their ground. They have spoken loudly and clearly. America, which claimed to be superior and a referee, is taking sides in a march it should be officiating. America has lost its credibility.

“The President of every sovereign country should be made to enjoy their independence and sovereignty. The assassination of Ayatollah, the supreme leader of Iran, on 28th February, 2026, is condemnable. Who knows who is next?”

Declaring that America has lost its supremacy, Oluwo said that as a true world power, the monarch said the country should not have taken sides when two parties are at war.

“US involvement without calling for a truce has made them lose the grip of world power. It was a needless and avoidable confrontation. I doubt if it will end well for America. I love America and Israel. Trump should apologise to Iran and the world at large. It’s not too late to right the wrong,” he further said.

The position taken by Oluwo on the Iran/Israel war is similar to that of the Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, who said on Wednesday that US-Israeli strikes on Iran had been “inconsistent with international law”, calling for a rapid de-escalation of the conflict.

Reports has it that Carney, while speaking at a gathering of the Lowy Institute think tank in Sydney, further said Canada welcomed steps to change Iran’s form of government, which he said represented the “principal source of instability and terror” in the Middle East.

But, he said, the action “would appear, prima facie, not to be consistent or to be inconsistent with international law”.

“It’s a judgment for others to make,” he added.
