Edo State Law Reform Commission Seeks Stronger Collaboration with EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with various stakeholders in the fight against corruption and other criminal activities. This declaration came during a courtesy visit on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, when officials from the Edo State Law Reform Commission met with the EFCC’s Acting Zonal Director in Benin, Deputy Commander Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad.

Deputy Commander Sa’ad emphasized that collaboration is fundamental to their mission. “No single entity can effectively tackle crime alone,” he said. “At the EFCC, collaboration, alongside integrity, professionalism, and courage, form the core of our values. Through working together with commissions like yours, we can bring about more impactful results in addressing societal challenges such as graft.”

The visit marks one of the first official engagements by the new Chairman of the Edo State Law Reform Commission, Osikhena Donald, since he assumed office. Donald explained that his team is taking deliberate steps to familiarize themselves with key law enforcement agencies in Edo State. “Our goal is to ensure that the revision and reform of the state’s legal framework are aligned with the needs of the people and supported by effective enforcement,” he noted.

The Edo State Law Reform Commission is charged with reviewing, updating, and recommending improvements to the state’s laws, ensuring they meet contemporary challenges and promote justice. By engaging with the EFCC and other law enforcement bodies early in their mandate, the Commission hopes to foster seamless cooperation that will enhance legal effectiveness and support anti-corruption efforts in the region.
