The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), located in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, has launched admissions for its inaugural undergraduate batch in the 2025/2026 academic year. This follows a successful Resource Verification Exercise by the National Universities Commission (NUC), which greenlit 30 programmes across six colleges. The pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi, confirmed the institution’s readiness at its temporary site in Awoyemi Commercial High School, Okeho, with infrastructure works completed by early October.
FUNATO emphasizes blending agriculture with cutting-edge technology to tackle national challenges in food security and innovation. Offerings span key areas: College of Livestock Development & Environmental Sciences (4 programmes), Agricultural Development & Human Ecology (5), Engineering & Technology (3), Science & Computing (10), Plant Science & Crop Production (4), and Environmental Design & Geospatial Technology (4). Specific fields include Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, Human Nutrition, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Horticulture, Architecture, and Surveying & Geoinformatics. No part-time options exist yet, focusing solely on full-time NUC-approved courses.
Prospective students, parents, and guardians should monitor official channels like funato.com.ng for application details, screening criteria, and deadlines, as announcements are imminent. Established recently under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval, FUNATO aims to pioneer academic excellence and regional development in Oyo State’s Oke-Ogun zone. Academic sessions are slated to commence soon, building on NUC’s recent programme approvals as of November 24.
