Boko Haram Attack Military Base Kills Four Soldiers!

A suspected Boko Haram insurgents attack on a military base in Ngamdu, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, unfolded in the early hours of Friday, causing casualties on both sides and disrupting travel along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway. This assault, involving a large number of insurgents, led to a prolonged gun battle with soldiers stationed at the base before the attackers retreated. The incident forced the temporary closure of the highway, stranding motorists for several hours and heightening fears among travelers in the region.

According to an official statement from the Nigerian Army’s Operation HADIN KAI, four soldiers were killed and five wounded during the attack. The insurgents employed Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in a coordinated assault aimed at overwhelming the military post. Despite the intensity of the attack and damage to some military vehicles, the troops held their ground and repelled the insurgents, inflicting significant casualties on them. Reports suggest that around 15 insurgents were killed, with their bodies reportedly buried near Bula Wura, close to Wasaram.

The military closed the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway temporarily to clear multiple IED-laden spots planted by the attackers along the route, reopening it after thorough clearance. Travelers expressed concerns over the attack, emphasizing the importance of securing this vital highway. The military has since launched patrols and operations to deny insurgents freedom of movement and to secure the area, reaffirming commitment to maintaining peace and security.
