The kidnapped wife of a senior Nigeria Immigration Service officer, Mrs. Ladi Abel, was rescued after security operatives’ coordinated operation at a swampy hideout in Ibereko, Badagry. The 45-year-old woman was abducted last weekend at Torikoh Bus Stop on the Lagos–Badagry Expressway while heading to the Trade Fair Complex in Lagos. Her daughter, Naomi Abel, revealed that kidnappers sprayed a white substance on passengers, rendering them unconscious and abducting about 15 people to an unknown location.

The rescue took place late Tuesday night through a joint operation involving about 20 Immigration officers, 25 police personnel, and local vigilantes from the Ibereko community. Although the kidnappers fled before security forces arrived, Mrs. Abel was recovered alive. Her husband, Mr. Abel Mada, paid a ransom of N2.5 million after the kidnappers initially demanded N3 million.
Naomi Abel expressed gratitude for the swift intervention by security agencies and the local community, emphasizing the relief of having their mother back safely. Authorities continue to track down the kidnappers believed to be part of a larger syndicate terrorizing commuters along the Lagos–Badagry corridor.
