In the escalating political tension ahead of the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, Nonye Frances Soludo, wife of Governor Charles Soludo, has issued a robust and unyielding rebuttal to Senator Uche Ekwunife’s repeated accusations against her and her family. This latest exchange marks a severe personal and political conflict as the contest heats up.

Two days ago, Mrs. Nonye Soludo responded sharply to what she described as a barrage of “fabricated inanities” from Senator Ekwunife, particularly countering the Senator’s questions about her academic credentials and her alleged involvement in the administration of former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju—a claim she strongly denies. Mrs. Soludo had initially dismissed Ekwunife’s remarks as “madness” unworthy of engagement. However, she stated that Ekwunife’s threats to destroy her family and the involvement of her children have crossed a red line, necessitating a firm response.

Mrs. Soludo revealed a complex prior relationship, recalling times she fed and cared for Uche Ekwunife and her children during visits to her home, highlighting the bitterness of the current attacks. She characterized Ekwunife’s tactics as a low political strategy of attacking families to intimidate opponents, a pattern she said the Senator had used before. Declaring herself armed with “decency, character, and grace,” Mrs. Soludo warned Ekwunife that this contest would be a “marathon,” signaling a determined resistance against what she called malicious defamation.
Maintaining a reputation for a quiet and private family life, Mrs. Soludo condemned the “shameless obscenities” associated with politics today, expressing grief that Ekwunife’s conduct has forced her into public confrontation to defend her family’s dignity. She also promised to withhold most counterattacks for now, instead focusing on the facts, but warned that failure by Ekwunife to retract her allegations within 72 hours would lead to legal action and a quest for justice.
Mrs. Soludo laid out three clear personal truths to refute the allegations: First, she has never worked for any government, professional or private, running her own businesses independently at home and abroad. Secondly, she has never met the late Governor Mbadinuju. Thirdly, in her 55 years, she has known only one man—her husband Governor Charles Soludo—and remains loyal to him after 33 years of marriage.
Taking her response further, Mrs. Soludo issued two pointed challenges directly to Senator Ekwunife. The first was for both women to take an oath of fidelity and chastity at any Catholic Cathedral in front of the Blessed Sacrament, an act invoking their shared faith to verify their personal claims. The second challenge involved submitting their children to paternity tests in reputable London hospitals, with all related expenses to be funded by Mrs. Soludo. She vowed to award a cash prize should the tests confirm Ekwunife’s claims of faithfulness, emphasizing her own pride in chastity and integrity.
In closing, Mrs. Soludo called Ekwunife’s recent emotional video outburst “hilarious” and “infantile,” stating that Governor Soludo is too dignified to stoop to such levels. The battle lines seem firmly drawn as the Anambra 2025 election approaches, with personal attacks now engulfing the political rivalry.
