The Nigeria Police Force has successfully repatriated Dai Qisheng, a notorious Chinese gang leader wanted for orchestrating violent organized crimes in Guizhou Province, China. Qisheng fled China in 2024 after the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County issued a warrant for his arrest.
He was tracked, surveilled, and arrested by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory on August 8, 2025. Following his arrest, Dai was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under the framework of police-to-police cooperation coordinated by INTERPOL, with collaboration from INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, described the operation as a strong message that Nigeria will not be a safe haven for international fugitives. He emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening international alliances, intelligence-sharing, and operational collaboration to combat transnational organized crime.
This landmark operation highlights the strength of global partnerships in tackling complex crime networks and reaffirms Nigeria’s resolve to prevent its territory from being used as a refuge by criminals worldwide.
