Dr. Kayode Ogunjobi

First day in every year is always a great day for every family regardless of financial status, religion or level of education. It is a day people thank God for the opportunity to see the New Year while looking ahead with great expectations. Unfortunately, the first day in 2023 was polluted, corrupted and contaminated by the trio of Lekan Adekanbi a k.a Koroba, Ahmed Odetola a.k.a.Akamo and Waheed Adeniji a.k.a. Koffi who conspired and killed Mr Kehinde Fatinoye, his beautiful wife, Deaconess Bukonla Fatinoye and their only surviving child Oreoluwa Fatinoye. Lekan Adekanbi, the private driver to the woman was the mastermind of the crime against humanity.

Just waking up from sleep after the New Year Service, I had flipped my phone to one of the prioritised platforms only to find the shocking story. Before long, it flooded other platforms. Some even sent it to me personally. They were not aware of my state of mind! It was a bad way to start a beautiful year.

Just like other individuals, several questions began to riot in my brain. The questions were begging for answers! Who could they have offended this much? What could be the motive? Who is the assistant devil that was the mastermind of this heinous crime? Was Mr Fatinoye involved in a business? Come to think of it, we have reached a stage in our sophistication that even politicians do not attack one another.

We must therefore commend the Nigeria Police for due diligence and for apprehending the culprits. Nigeria Police would never have been able to absolve itself of complicity if the culprits were not fished out. It could have been easy to conclude that there was a conspiracy between the perpetrators and the Police. One of the lessons for us all is to always avoid hasty conclusions.

I congratulate those Police Officers that took the alleged suspect to the hospital. When the alleged suspect, Lekan was arrested and he escaped at the clinic, two things readily came to the mind. A big network trying to cover tracks or secondly, the Police using Jack Bauer approach to use him to track others. However, when it became obvious that the Police authorities declared the suspect wanted and confirmed that truly the guy escaped, I was worried like many other individuals. I am sure that no suspect will ever be allowed to escape again in the same “James Bond” way that Lekan escaped.

Once again, I congratulate the Police Officers and Ogun State Police for seeing this to a logical conclusion. I am sure if Lekan was not rearrested and no head way in the investigation, the Officers concerned would have remained sad in service. Even if the law does not punish them, they would have been subject of continuous struggle within themselves. Personal condemnation!

Beyond that, friends, colleagues and associates of Mr. Fatinoye would have found it difficult to trust one another. The action of the Police has helped greatly to kill all potential suspicions and innuendos.

To the reason given by the suspect, I think he can say that to the marines. He killed them because they did not increase his salary! What an utter nonsense!

Truly, the heart of man is terribly wicked and only God can know it. This is the same man that they must have spent hours together in the car. He must have eaten several times in their house. He was so free in the house that the Alsatian dogs recognised him as a member of the family. What a wicked world!

Because I know Late Mrs Fatinoye, I can say categorically that the reason given by the guy is absolute rubbish. The guy was simply enveloped by greed, avarice and get-rich- quickly syndrome which is eating deep into the fabrics of our existence as a people.

I am sure that if the guy is married, Late Mrs Fatinoye would have been nice to the wife. She would have given her items at one point or the other. She would have been speaking to her on phone helping them to stabilise. If he has children, she would have bought items for the children not once and not twice. She was an amiable personality. I can assert that if his account is scrutinised , the woman would have occasionally given him money aside from his salary. If there was a function in his family and he had invited his Late boss, she would have been one of the first set of people to arrive at the party to honour his driver with her presence. That is her personality.

The guy did not tell us his salary and the increase he was requesting for. Rubbish! I will not be shocked if further findings reveal that his salary is far above that of his contemporaries. To people like him, nothing is ever enough!

The guy did not consider the fact that the family lost their second child not too long ago but was blindfolded with his greed. He is a wicked soul!

I am also almost certain that Oreoluwa who he tied his hands and dropped in the river to die must have been of assistance to him at one point or the other either to take him in his car when he drops his mum or any other. Ore must have seen him as a big brother figure. I will not be surprised if his account also indicate some little change from Ore. Ore was a chatty and gifted boy but unfortunately was cut off in his prime by someone who should guide and protect him. None of this concerned Lekan Adekanbi. He planned it and waited for the first day in the year to execute it. He sold his heart to the devil!

Woe unto he who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul! Lekan thought that he had killed three people but has actually killed more than two dozens. There are destinies attached to the Fatinoyes that he has killed because of his greed. There are drivers who the boss will never be able to trust again. There are maids that their master will forever be suspicious of regardless of their good intentions . There are people who will continue to suffer from the trauma till they die. It is just unforgettable!

The Yorubas would say “inu jin” meaning it is difficult to decipher what a man has in his mind. The guy still attended the burial of the couple a day after he killed them and would have joined in the search for Oreoluwa if Oreoluwa’s body had not been recovered in good time. Wickedness!

I imagine what would be going on in the minds of the couple when they saw Lekan standing before them. I imagine how Lekan would have felt when his boss must have been begging him, maybe even kneeling down. That would not make him repent. I imagine Oreoluwa shouting Bro Lekan, Bro Lekan and water flow through my eyes.

I do not pray for Lekan and his co-travellers to die soon. No! I will pray that they live beyond 100 years in a world of their own. If I have my way, I will package the pictures of the family and the burial showing the presence of Lekan. If there is any picture they took with Lekan while alive too, I will include it and hand it over to him with a stern instruction to check it daily and submit a report every 1st of December. By the end of every month, I will remind him to go and collect his salary from them to see if they had increased it .

For every other person that is contemplating evil, be assured that there is no hiding place for you. And one thing is also sure that everything shall be brought to the open one day.

The wickedness perpetrated by Lekan and his group cannot be quantified. They committed a heinous crime indeed; and ONLY God can judge between Lekan and his late Boss and her family.
Through this evil act, many families and destinies have been negatively impacted. However, God is Almighty and can correct every evil.
It’s best we learn tangible lessons from this evil; and put out trust ONLY on God.

What a wicked heart of a man! How much money worth a life, not to talk of lives. Is it a crime to employ an individual or individuals as domestic staff? and how possible will it be for such staff not to know almost all the in and out of the employer? The man has proven to be an insect derailing and defaming and the outlook of the garden egg that host it for a good living; he has capitalised on his free access to the Fatinoyes to murder the entire family’s sleep and should be made not to see sleep as well. I sincerely commiserate with the Fatinoyes

It’s really sad. Another reference to wickedness of the heart of men that the bible made reference to.
May we never take refuge in the abode of the wicked, because like my mum often says; the wicked needs no excuse to perpetrate his vices, even if you worship him daily with your resources, he will still pay you with evil.

I feel it is beyond salary increment. Someone must have masterminded this. There is sth Lekan isn’t saying

The world is full of lessons, and I believe we will continue to lend until death. What can we say about Jesus Christ and Judas, who betrayed His master? I believe in the law of karma, which states that you reap what you sow. To begin, let us be cautious of the people, relatives, and families who surround us. Second, don’t overlook minor bad characters; they can definitely ruin lives.

You are right. One will convince the other that he can’t cause them harm whereas he was loaded with evil
