The demonstrating youths had invaded banks in the metropolis and barricaded roads with bon fire. An unnamed youth was allegedly shot by the Police during the pandemonium.
The Governor used the opportunity to inform the citizens of the interventions of Government towards ameliorating the hardship being experienced arising from the naira designation and fuel crisis.
”As your government that is compassionate about the welfare of its people, We suspended our rallies as a means of showing empathy with the people and we have also taken further steps by engaging critical stakeholders in the banking sector, which is not limited to top officials of Central Bank of Nigeria in Ogun State and Bankers’ Committee so as to ameliorate the suffering of our people”.
Speaking philosophically, Governor Abiodun asserted : ” You cannot solve a problem by creating another problem”. He admonished the youths to desist from engaging in any act that could inflict more pains on the people and put the State backward in terms of infrastructural development, employment geneartion and prosperity.
According to him, ” We are the industrial capital of Nigeria and investors will not come here if there is breakdown of law and order and if they dont come, there will be unemployment. You have to look at the larger picture and understand that we are working assidously to ensure that investors come here in line with our vision because that is what translate to individual prosperity”
