The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is in mourning following the death of Mrs. Yewande Baiyewu, Director of the Directorate of Internal Audit. Mrs. Baiyewu, a highly respected Chartered Accountant and seasoned Auditor, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
Appointed Director in December 2023, Mrs. Baiyewu was renowned for her unwavering dedication, integrity, and professionalism. Her tenure was marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence, discipline, and transparency, earning her admiration across the University community. She played a pivotal role in promoting financial accountability and upholding the highest standards within the institution.
The news of her passing has deeply affected colleagues, staff, and management, with many paying tribute to her selfless service and upright character. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, described Mrs. Baiyewu’s death as a profound loss for the University, highlighting her dependability and the moral strength she provided to many.
The University extends heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones, and prays for the peaceful repose of her soul. Details regarding her burial rites will be communicated by her family in due course.
