A high-powered delegation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum, paid a formal visit to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja yesterday.
The delegation was warmly received by INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, alongside National Commissioners, senior aides, and key directors of the Commission. The meeting focused on pressing internal issues within the PDP that require regulatory clarification from INEC.

In his opening remarks, Professor Yakubu emphasized the Commission’s commitment to impartiality and adherence to electoral laws, stating, “Our role is to ensure that the rules are followed.”
Following the formal session, the discussions moved behind closed doors, where both parties sought to reach a mutual understanding on resolving the PDP’s concerns ahead of upcoming electoral activities.

This engagement underscores ongoing efforts to maintain transparent and credible electoral processes in Nigeria, especially as political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections.
